For twenty-four years, the nearest Kati Roll to Jersey City was across the Hudson. In July 2026 that changed. Our first New Jersey store is now on Bergen Avenue at Journal Square, a few minutes' walk from the PATH station.

It is our seventh store and our first in a third state, after four in New York and two in Texas. Here is what to know before you go.

Where it is

The store is at 924 Bergen Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07306, a few blocks from the Journal Square PATH station. If you come in by train, it is a short walk.

When it is open

Journal Square keeps the simplest hours we have: 11am to 10pm, every day. Lunch or dinner, seven days a week. You can call the store at (201) 356-9044.

What to order

The food is the same food we have made since 2002 on MacDougal Street, cooked from the same recipes with the same spice blends. All of our meats are certified halal, and our chicken is antibiotic and hormone free.

Start with a bowl. Every bowl is the roll's filling with everything around it: paratha wedges, spicy mashed potato and a colorful salad with lime cilantro dressing, topped with white raita, green chutney and caramelized red onions. Choose a rice bowl, on aromatic biryani rice, or a salad bowl without the rice. When Jersey Digs previewed the store in June, the Steak Rice Bowl and the Paneer Salad Bowl were two of the dishes it named.

The bowls cover all five fillings: chicken tikka, steak tikka, mutton shami, achari paneer and chana. The paneer and chana bowls are vegetarian. For the store's full menu, check the Journal Square page before you go.

How to order ahead

Journal Square takes online orders through its own ordering page, separate from our New York and Texas stores. The link is on the store page and on our order page, next to every other store. Order ahead, or just walk in.

How it came to Jersey City

Journal Square is a franchise store, run by Jay Sorathiya, our franchise partner in New Jersey. We started franchising in 2024 with Dallas and Plano, and Journal Square is the first store our program has brought to New Jersey.

In its story on the new store, Jersey Digs quoted Payal Saha on the reason she opened the first one, on MacDougal Street in 2002.

I thought if I missed them this much, other people must too.

Payal Saha, Founder, in Jersey Digs, Jun 25 2026

The local papers covered it before the doors opened. Hoodline, Jersey Digs and NJBIZ all ran stories in June 2026, and Jersey Digs described the move as the restaurant crossing the Hudson twenty-four years after it first came to Greenwich Village. You can find all three in our press archive, and the longer view in twenty years in the papers.

If you are curious how a franchise store works, or want to own one, our franchise page explains the program and why we started franchising.

New to kati rolls?

A kati roll is Kolkata street food: a skewer-grilled filling in a hand-made flatbread, finished with chutney, onions and spice. Our guide to what a kati roll is explains every layer, and the first-timer's guide tells you where to start. Then come to Bergen Avenue and say hello.
