These are the questions owners ask us first, with the answers from our franchise page, explained at more length. Where a figure appears, it is a figure we publish, and the Franchise Disclosure Document governs. The current edition is dated April 30, 2026, and you receive it during your application.
Cost and terms
How much does a Kati Roll franchise cost?
The franchise fee is $40,000 for one location. The FDD governs. The fee is part of the total investment, not an addition to it. The published figures, and what each one covers, are in What a Kati Roll Franchise Costs.
What is the total investment to open one store?
It varies with the location, but plan on an estimated $394,500 to $830,000, including the franchise fee. These are estimates; the FDD governs, and Item 7 of the FDD breaks the estimate down line by line. The site, the market and the build decide where you land in the range.
What are the ongoing fees?
The main ongoing fees are a royalty of 6% and a marketing fund of 2%, each of gross sales. The FDD governs. Item 6 of the FDD lists the rest, such as a weekly royalty minimum, local advertising and a technology fee.
Can I open more than one store?
Yes, and we prefer it. Multi-unit agreements for 3 to 5 units are priced at $80,000 to $135,000 and strongly preferred. The FDD governs. If you already run a group, read our post for restaurant operators.
Do you offer financing?
No. We do not provide financing, so the capital comes from you. That is why being financially prepared is one of the five things we look for in a partner.
How long is the agreement?
The standard term is 10 years. Renewal, transfer and the other terms of the relationship are written into the franchise agreement and set out in the FDD.
Territory and site
Is my territory protected?
Yes. Every franchisee has a protected territory within which no other Kati Roll franchise is allowed. Your territory is set in your franchise agreement, and Item 12 of our FDD sets its size and the rights we keep inside it.
When we name a city on this site, as we do in Where Kati Roll Is Growing, that is not an offer of a territory. Tell us where you want to open when you apply, and we talk it through on the introduction call.
Do you choose my site?
No. You select the location and area with our guidance, and we give final approval of the site. We also help with lease negotiation, and we provide the design and blueprints. For a sense of scale, our downtown Dallas store is 2,200 square feet and seats up to 50.
Running the store
Do I need restaurant experience?
Operational experience or relevant business leadership is strongly preferred. We look for franchise or business experience in food, a strong local presence and a growth mindset. Multi-unit operators and first-time owners are both welcome, and this post for first-time owners is written for the second group.
Do I buy equipment from you?
Most equipment and furniture comes from approved suppliers you buy from directly. Certain specialized equipment comes from us.
Do I buy inventory and supplies from you?
Yes, some. To keep every roll the same, spice blends, sauces and breads come from us. Everything else, including halal and antibiotic-free meats, comes from suppliers we approve. Behind them is a proprietary blend of up to 30 hand-ground spices, and Our Food lists the ones we use most.
Can I add to the menu?
No. The menu stays the menu. If you have suggestions, we will give them due consideration. The menu is short on purpose: six fillings, each as a roll on paratha or roti or with egg, plus bowls, momos, sides and lassi.

Do I set my own prices?
Yes, with our guidance on a pricing structure for your location.
What support do I get?
Site selection help, design and blueprints, lease negotiation and leasehold improvement guidance, comprehensive initial training, POS, digital loyalty, online ordering, targeted marketing services, proprietary recipes and operational support as you grow. How We Train and Support Our Partners explains each one.
The process
How long until I open?
From inquiry to agreement usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. Opening can follow in as little as 4 to 6 months after the agreement, depending on site selection, financing, approvals, training and construction. Every step is in From Inquiry to Opening.
Can I visit before I sign?
Yes. Discovery, the fourth of the five steps, is a visit to New York to eat with us, meet the team and see the stores, starting with MacDougal Street, where the first store opened in 2002.
How do I start?
Start your application from our franchise page. It takes a few minutes, and the next step is a call with our team. If you have a question we have not answered here, write to franchise@thekatirollcompany.com. Before you do, What It Takes to Own a Kati Roll is the best place to begin.
This post is not an offer to sell a franchise. An offer is made only by a Franchise Disclosure Document delivered in accordance with applicable law.
